Pétalos Del Bierzo 2021

Pétalos del Bierzo 2021 is a tremendously fruity wine, made 100% with Mencía grapes. In 2019 it was a success, with 93 Parker points and 92 Peñín points, which consolidates this wine as one of the best in Spain for its quality-price ratio.

Descendientes de J. Palacios has a total of 27ha. of vineyards, planted with old, high-quality vines and on very steep soils.

Preparation and aging

Pétalos Del Bierzo 2021 is made with manually harvested grapes and the first selection is produced in the same vineyard. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are destemmed and fermented for about 25 days in open stainless steel wooden vats. A malolactic fermentation then takes place, which takes place for two months in closed vats.

Subsequently, Pétalos del Bierzo ages for 10 months in French oak barrels and, before being bottled, it is filtered and clarified.

• View: Pétalos del Bierzo is a wine with a beautiful cherry color, dark, clean and bright, with violet hues. Tear, thin, slow fall.
• Nose: high intensity, with a marked varietal character. Lots of ripe red and black fruit, accompanied by intense and aromatic floral notes. As it opens, it becomes more complex, revealing a surprising minerality and soft, elegant toasted notes. Light background that reminds us of bushes, undergrowth.
• Palate: an expressive wine, very tasty. Good attack, broad, with a long velvety, fresh, intense trail. Lots of fruit and lots of flower nuanced with delicious spicy notes. Good acidity and polished tannins. Long and persistent finish.

Pétalos Del Bierzo is ideal to accompany vegetables, mushrooms, roasts, sausages, legumes, grilled red meats and roast lamb.

It is recommended to consume this red wine at a temperature of 16ºC.
