Lan on hand 2020

LAN a Mano 2020 is a red wine with Denomination of Origin Rioja (La Rioja, Spain), produced by the LAN winery.

The wine is made from Tempranillo (85%), Garciano (10%) and Mazuelo (5%) grapes from a selection of vines between 35 and 40 years old from Pago “El Rincón”. It is a limited edition of 28,900 bottles. Get one of them En Copa de Balón and enjoy wine with a good plate of roasted red meats.

Elaboration

Manual harvest, to later select the best grains that will go to the production phase. Malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels that ended in the spring of the following year. During the period between alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, its lees were stirred weekly to achieve greater volume in the mouth, achieving a silkier and more pleasant wine.

Aged for 8 months in French oak barrels from the Jupille and Troncaise forests followed by 5 months in new oak from the Caucasus. Unclarified and unfiltered wine, these processes having occurred naturally over time by sedimentation and natural decantation in the barrel.

Tasting notes from LAN a Mano 2020

• View : Ripe cherry color, very covered and bright.
• Nose : Very intense aromas dominated by ripe black fruit (plum, blackberry, black currant) almost candied. Memories of cocoa and toffee, black tobacco and spices. Mineral touches from the vineyard estate.
• Mouth : The entry into the mouth is warm and velvety. It is round and mature. With a long finish on the palate.

Consumption Recommendation

Accompanies meat carpaccio, roasted and grilled red meats. It is advisable to serve between 17 and 19º C.

Appellation of origin

LAN a Mano 2020 is Rioja , a fact that allows us to know the authenticity and quality of the products they make. Rioja is one of the best-known Designations of Origin in the world, with a presence in more than 130 different countries. The Denomination has been able to transmit confidence to its consumers and has managed to achieve a leadership position for Rioja wines in the market.

Grape varieties

The Tempranillo grape represents 85% in LAN a Mano, it is native to Rioja, one of the most characteristic varieties of this Denomination. It is the grape that gives identity to its red wines and one of the great noble varieties in the world. It represents 75% of the crop area. Furthermore, it stands out for being very versatile oenologically, that is, capable of producing all types of wines, long-aged, very balanced in alcohol level, color and acidity, and with a soft and fruity palate, which when aged, evolves to velvety. . It is an “early grape”, it has a short ripening cycle. It is not very resistant to drought and high temperatures. Currently, the quality of Tempranillo is very widespread in Spain, since of the 28 DOs in which it is authorized, 12 consider it the main variety, as is the case of LAN a Mano 2018.

The Graciano grape makes up 10% of LAN wine, it is a very little widespread native variety. Its cultivation area has increased due to the visible complementarity with Tempranillo. It is a grape that requires clay-limestone soils, has low fertility and late maturation. It offers wines with significant acidity and polyphenolic content, ideal for aging, whose aroma is very peculiar, superior in intensity to the rest of the Rioja varieties.

The last grape variety is Mazuelo with a presence of 5%. Currently, it only occupies 3% of the Denomination's surface. It is much more productive than other red varieties, it is short on aromas, it has high acidity and stable color, all of which makes it a good complement to Tempranillo for long-aging wines.

The “Pago El Rincón” vineyard, where the LAN a Man grapes are grown, is a plot of 5.34 hectares, located in the southern area next to the “El Rincón” mountain. It is located at an altitude of 491 meters. Traditional Rioja glass with 3 arms with 5 thumbs of 2 buds. Yield of 3,500 kg/ha.
