Description

La Cueva del Contador 2016 is a red wine from the Rioja DO made by Benjamín Romeo in his Bodegas Contador.

Preparation and aging

La Cueva del Contador 2016 is a single-varietal Tempranillo.

Vinification: Uncrushed grapes. Cold maceration. Fermentation at a temperature of 25ºC in open and used 60 hl vats. Contact of 15 days with the skins and malolactic in wood. The must fermented in wooden vats at a controlled temperature and was aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months.

Bottled without filtering or clarifying, with adjusted doses of sulfur and resting for 6 months in the bottle before marketing.

  • Nose: Spicy aroma, creamy oak, toasted, complex, chocolate, red fruit.
  • Mouth: Powerful, tasty, toasted, ripe tannins.

La Cueva del Contador is ideal to accompany feathered game, baked lamb, Iberian ham and baked lamb.

It is advisable to consume this red wine at a temperature of 16ºC.
