Frangelico
Description
Frangelico is a liqueur made from roasted wild hazelnuts soaked in alcohol along with berries and spices.
This liquor gets its name from the monk who lived in a hermitage in Piedmont and who invented it around the year 1600 along with many other drinks.
Preparation and aging
Frangelico is made from local Piedmont hazelnuts that are picked, peeled, roasted and crushed. They are then left to infuse with a solution of alcohol and water. The concentrate is mixed with pure alcohol, sugar and water to obtain the necessary percentage of alcohol. It is left in oak barrels for 6-8 weeks to mix well and to add character and maturity, transforming into a golden liquor.
