Cloudy Bay owes its name to the particularly cloudy bay at the eastern end of the Wairau Valley, named after Captain Cook.

Preparation and aging

Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is synonymous with the best Sauvignon Blanc in the world and excellence in wine creation. The passion of the Cloudy Bay team is to maximize the quality of their bottles and capture the unique and exciting flavors of Marlborough within them. The wort, lightly pressed, is racked cold for 48 to 72 hours and inoculated with neutral yeast strains. Fermentations were carried out in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine remains in contact with the lees for two additional months.

At the time of blending, the winemakers select only the lots that best reflect the characters of the Saugvinon Blanc from the Marlborough vineyards before being bottled in August.
