Elaboration

Brugal 1888 rum is a limited edition, made with selected oak barrels. The Brugal family has worked for five generations to create a super-premium drink as a sign of their knowledge and journey through the history of rum. Brugal 1888 is the drink with a unique personality, which reflects the spirit and dedication of the company to become a new jewel in the Dominican distillery.

Its production begins with a double distillation, followed by the selection of the best rums that have gone through a double aging process. To obtain this drink, the selected rums must age for eight years in American white oak barrels that have contained bourbon and, subsequently, undergo aging for six years in European oak barrels - previously used in the aging of wines. from Jerez-. All of this scrupulous selection of procedures aims to achieve a different formula for making rum, which combines the traditional with new trends.

Wood is the basic element in the production and differentiation of Brugal 1888 rum. The importance of wood is accentuated by the personal selection of barrels by George Espie, master woodworker at The Macallan for decades. Likewise, the arrangement of the barrels becomes another key in the production of this traditional but exclusive rum. The horizontal placement of the barrels in which the rums age ensures that during the aging process, the liquid is in permanent contact with the wood, causing the rum to acquire very specific colour, smell and flavor characteristics.

The exclusivity of this rum is reflected in the label located on the front of the bottle, where the date and batch number of the barrels in which the rum has aged appear. Likewise, each batch appears signed by each of the rum masters, as a way to prove its authenticity.
