Angels of Amaren 2018

Ángeles de Amaren 2018 is a red wine with Deomination of Origin Rioja (La Rioja, Spain), produced by Bodegas Amaren.

The wine is made from Tempranillo (85%) and Graciano (15%). It is a red wine with very intense and floral aromas, an expressive flavor and a long finish.

Elaboration

The grapes are harvested manually and transported in boxes to safeguard their quality and personality. In addition, they go through a double selection on the table, where first the clusters are chosen and then each grain is selected. Subsequently, they are sent to French and American oak barrels to undergo malolactic fermentation. Each grape variety, that is, Tempranillo and Graciano, undergoes fermentation in separate barrels to optimize their properties.

Aging is for 16 months in new barrels (50% French oak and 50% American).

• Nose : Aromas of great intensity with a very marked floral load on a background of wood and milky nuances with spicy notes.

Bodegas Amaren was born in honor of Ángeles, wife of Luis Cañas and mother of Juan Luis (Bodegas Luis Cañas, Rioja Alavesa). In 1995 , Luis Cañas began to make a different wine, where he sought to show the maximum personality of the variety. A 100% Tempranillo from several plots of old vineyards. During the process, Luis Cañas' mother dies and he decides to honor Ángeles' memory by dedicating this new creation to her, Amaren Reserva Tempranillo 1995. From that moment, in 2016, the project to create Amaren, a winery that represents love, arose. familiar.

The winery is located in Samaniego (Rioja Alavesa), made up of 65 hectares of vineyards between 35 and 110 years old. They are characterized by a calcareous clay soil of low fertility. An exclusive microclimate for the cultivation of clusters and small grapes of high quality. Each plot is meticulously cared for with the aim of enhancing all the qualities of the grapes. They work the land in the most natural way possible, to preserve the animal and plant diversity of the place, which makes each wine a special product.

Its main grape varieties are old vines of Tempranillo , Graciano, Malvasía or Garnacha.
