'+ Altitud Garnacha 2021

+Altitud Garnacha 2021 is a red wine produced by Bodega Mikaela and Alto Horizonte, with Designation of Origin Wine from Spain. It is made 100% with the Garnacha grape.

The production of this wine is a project of Micaela Rubio whose objective is to create Mediterranean wines where the uniqueness and freshness of the area where it is produced prevails. It is a perfect wine to accompany meat, sausage or cheese.

Elaboration

It all starts from the 32 microplots located in the Navatalgordo and Sierra de Gredos municipalities (Ávila) at 1,100 meters above sea level.

The soils on which the vineyards grow are granite sand and the climate that prevailed during 2018 was a very cold winter leading to a late vintage.

The harvest was manual and, subsequently, they were sent to tanks made of different materials -stainless steel, concrete and French oak barrels- for the vatting process. It is at a controlled temperature, around 25-26ºC and with native yeasts.

Aging is for 14 months in concrete tanks, stoneware vessels and French oak barrels.

• View : cherry color with bright reflections.
• Nose : fruity aromas, where red fruit stands out. Toasted touches are perceived.
• Palate : it is a wine with good structure, balanced and with a mineral background.

Consumption Recommendation

Red meats, sausages and cheeses. It is recommended to serve at 16ºC.

The Alto Horizonte winery is one of the projects promoted by Micaela Rubio and her husband, the winemaker Aurelio García, whose objective is to make wines from the Garnacha variety.

For a long time they dedicated themselves to producing wines from 30 different varieties, among which Grenache was not found. After getting to know the Sierra de Gredos they decided to start this project, where Grenache and vineyards that are more than 70 years old are the protagonists.
